19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.
This represents his first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from March of that year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
His counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He came back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.
Moutet defended 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
